Fury v Joshua in Cardiff: Getting There and Home After a 1am Fight
Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua meet at the Principality Stadium on Friday 11 December 2026, in the biggest British heavyweight fight in a generation. With up to 80,000 fans in the city centre and a main event in the early hours of Saturday, how you get home deserves as much planning as your ticket.
The fight at a glance
| Date | Friday 11 December 2026, running into Saturday morning |
|---|---|
| Venue | Principality Stadium, Cardiff city centre |
| Main event | Ring walk expected around 1am |
| At stake | WBA ‘super’ heavyweight world title |
| Broadcast | Live worldwide on Netflix |
| Capacity | Up to 80,000, roof closed |
The late start suits American television, so a full undercard will run through Friday evening. The stadium has applied to stay open until about 3.30am, and the event remains subject to that licence being granted.
Getting home at 3am
A normal stadium night ends around 10pm, when trains and buses are still running. This one will end between 2am and 3.30am, in the middle of a busy pre-Christmas Friday night.
- Trains: Transport for Wales and Great Western Railway are discussing extra early-morning services, but no timetable has been confirmed yet. Check before you travel and have a back-up plan.
- Hotels: many Cardiff hotels sold out soon after the fight was announced, so a lot of fans will be heading home overnight.
- Road closures: expect city-centre closures around the stadium, as on rugby international days. Pick-ups need to happen outside the closed area.
- Taxis: with tens of thousands leaving at once, ranks will be under heavy pressure. Booking ahead is the safer choice.
Coming from further afield
Fans will travel in from across South Wales and the South West, and from airports for those flying in. Newport, Bridgend, the valleys, Bristol and Bath are all an easy drive to the city centre. Visitors flying in can be met at Cardiff, Bristol or Heathrow and brought straight to their hotel.
Book your fight-night transport with Ibex Shuttle
We are based at East Moors in Cardiff, a few minutes from the stadium, and our journeys run 24/7 when pre-booked. For fight night we offer event transport including:
- 16-seat minibus with driver: keeps your group together there and back, with a set pick-up time and a meeting point outside the road closures.
- Executive cars and people carriers: Mercedes saloons, Vito and V-Class for smaller groups and corporate guests.
- Return journeys timed to the fight: your driver waits until the event ends, however late it runs.
- Airport transfers: for fans flying in to Cardiff, Bristol or Heathrow.
Our cars and minibuses run all night on 11 December. Because of the extra traffic and demand, fight-night rates are higher than our standard prices, and your price is fixed once you book. Please book early, as vehicles will be in short supply. Get a fixed-price quote or call 0333 090 8816.
Event details are correct as of 17 October 2026 and may change. Please check the official Principality Stadium and Transport for Wales updates before you travel.
